Job description

Electrician is responsible for the electrical plan layout, alterations, additions, and/or repairs and maintenance of electrical systems such as motors, breakers, relays, light fixtures, conductors, and associated materials and equipment of the hydropower plant.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
• Keep generators, lighting, and electrical systems in working order. Diagnose problems and then repair/replace defective parts.
• Need to act quickly when a breakdown occurs; must be able to tell management whether the problem can be corrected and whether business can continue as usual. If regular activities must be stopped, the electrician will have to estimate how long a shutdown will last.
• Make periodic inspections for new electrical services (AC & DC), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contactors, relays, timers, and controls.
• Operates a variety of standard power tools, equipment, and trenchers in electrical installations, maintenance, and repair activities on a regular basis.
• Maintains records and logs as needed.
• Performs electrical maintenance and repair work; install/replace fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring.
• Install new or modified electrical installations consistent with local and national codes.
• Plan electrical installations to minimize waste of materials and provide access for future
• Maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be a 3 or 4 year college graduate or vocational course.
• At least 2 years of experience in hydropower operation or construction.
• Preferably a registered Master Electrician or a NCII Industrial Electrician, Industrial Building wiring, etc.
• Must have a good communication skill.
• Ability to assess a critical situation.
• Good in MS (excel & word).
• Familiar with most electrical tools and equipment.
